Lee County deputies make arrest in 20-year-old homicide cold case
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County deputies made an arrest in a 20-year-old cold case homicide.
62-year-old Richard Truelock, of Mantachie, was charged with murder.
Sheriff Jim Johnson said the homicide happened in July 2003 on County Road 1792.
Wendy Benson was found dead inside the home.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation worked with deputies to reopen the case because of new forensic testing technology.
Johnson did not say what testing occurred or when, how Turelock was connected to Benson, or how she died.
Bond for Truelock was set at $1 million.
