LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – We now know the name of the suspect accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through Tupelo and Verona.

It was around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when an MHP trooper tried to stop Christian Acosta.

He was driving a truck on Highway 278, near the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Investigators said the 22-year-old fled, leading authorities on a chase through Tupelo and into Verona, where it ended on Palmetto Road.

The chase ended when Acosta allegedly rammed his truck into an MHP vehicle, causing that cruiser to hit an unmarked MHP car.

Area residents reported hearing what they think were gunshots as the chase ended.

The suspect’s truck eventually stopped in a yard. He was then apprehended and arrested.
