Lee County Authorities Investigating Deputy-Involved Shooting
NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) is investigating a deputy-involved shooting.
According to a press release provided by LCSD, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched by 911 to Maple Street to assist Nettleton police with a shots fired report.
Upon arrival, deputies, per the release, encountered 56-year-old Nettleton man Richard Rogers, who was reportedly armed with a firearm. Rogers allegedly opened fire on the responding deputies, one of them ired back, striking Rogers.
Rogers was taken into custody and transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.
Rogers’ condition as well as how many times he had been shot was unknown at the time of this post.
The investigation is ongoing.
