Lawsuit Claims Former Deputy Lied About Being Shot

ABERDEEN, MS (WCBI) – A Monroe County deputy lied about how and why he was shot last August. That’s a claim being made in a federal lawsuit filed against former Monroe County Deputy Eric Sloan.
Cynthia Fuller of Amory is suing Deputy Eric Sloan for false arrest stemming from a 2013 case where she was charged with drug possession based on documents filed by Sloan. The District attorneys office said none of the evidence against her was correct and threw the case out. To prove Sloan has a history of lying the lawsuit also draws into question the August 2015 episode where Sloan claimed he was shot on Highway 45 by a suspect he claimed to be a black man riding a motorcycle.. A Monroe county resident identified as Stephanie Herring told investigators she had tipped Sloan off to the location of 80 thousand dollars taken in a home burglary. Herring claims Sloan tried to force her to get 10 thousand dollars of that money so he could carry his kids to Disneyworld. Herring also claims it was at that Nettleton location where Sloan was shot not on the side of the highway as he told the Sheriff and the media. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has also questioned Herring about her claims about Sloan and given her a lie detector test that records show she passed. Sloan resigned from the Department late last year.
