“Last Chance U” Renewed for Second Season on Netflix
SCOOBA, Miss. (WCBI) — For those wanting a second chance with “Last Chance U”, you’re in luck.
Netflix announced on Monday that they have given the green light for a second season with the East Mississippi Community College Lions football team on “Last Chance U”. Yahoo Sports was the first to report the news.
Director Greg Whiteley and his crew will return to Scooba to profile the 2016 EMCC Lions and head coach Buddy Stephens.
“I’m hoping it did humanize things a lot more,” Stephens said of the Netflix docuseries to Yahoo Sports. “Those NFL players, those big time college players, those guys that are playing Division II or Division III or community college, they all have the same problems. [Alabama coach] Nick Saban has the same problems that I have from time to time, he just has $7 million more a year.”
The second season of “Last Chance U” will be available to Netflix subscribers in the summer of 2017.
EMCC begins the 2016 season on the road at Jones County Junior College. The Lions will be without many of those players who played in the final game of the 2015 season due to graduation or due to serving the second game of their 2-game mandatory NJCAA suspension following a fight with Mississippi Delta Community College.
