Lamar County Escapee Still Sought

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — One Lamar County, Alabama escapee is back behind bars and another is still on the run from deputies.

Billy Joe Vail is a 30-year-old white male, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He weighs approximately 123 pounds.

At one point the search led investigators to Fayette County. Deputies believe Vail is still in the area and isn’t considered dangerous. He was in jail for drug charges.

Deputies say Vail, of Millport, and 21-year-old Dakota Aldridge of Kennedy slipped passed a jailer while he was dispensing medication. Aldridge was caught at about noon in Fayette County.

The duo is accused of stealing a Lamar County Water Association truck that was later found between Milliport and Vernon.
