CAFB, Miss. – (WCBI) A contract buyout can create confusion for workers, but union leaders say the transition at the Columbus Air Force Base should be simple.
Since 1988, Dyncorp has held the maintenance contract at Columbus Air Force Base. Now, the Pentagon has awarded a seven year deal with L-3 Communications.
L-3 wants to begin the hiring process immediately. Current employees should go the company’s website, and click on the position that they currently hold at CAFB.
“With the transition everybody that is in their current position now will be in that position when L-3 takes over. We will ensure that we match everybody to thheir job the yare doing now when L-3 takes over the contract,” says Union President Danny Woodcock.
Once all applications are turned in, L-3 will hold interviews. No date has been set.
L-3 takes over on December 1, 2012.
