Kidney Disease Conference Held in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Kidney Foundation hosted a conference in Columbus for people suffering with kidney disease.
The one-day event was held at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle. Doctors, nurses and a nutritionist spoke to patients and their families about how to manage kidney disease. There are over 500,000 Americans suffering with kidney disease according to guest speaker, Dr. Chris LeBrun of Columbus.
Organizers say the conferences are designed to inform and offer a bit of comfort about fighting kidney disease.
“We want these patients to take away information and feel better about what they’re doing and what the disease is. And know that they can live with the disease and that it’s going to be ok,” says Lynda Richards, Director of Patient Services at the Mississippi Kidney Foundation.
The Mississippi Kidney Foundation conducts the conferences across the state. The conferences are free and this was the first time it was held in Columbus.
