Justin Cox Arrested Following Domestic Incident in Starkville
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) –– One former area football star is behind bars this evening in Oktibbeha County.
At approximately 1:05pm CT, deputies of the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department responded to Aspen Heights Apartments on Blackjack Road for a call of burglary and domestic violence.
Deputies, with the assistance of West Point Police Department, arrested Justin J. Cox of West Point a short time later.
Cox is being held in Oktibbeha County Jail on burglary of a residence, domestic violence-aggravated and trespassing charges. Cox is expected to be arraigned tomorrow and bond set at that time. Investigation into the incident continues.
Cox’s arrest was first reported by the Clarion-Ledger’s Mike Bonner.
This is Cox’s second arrest in the last eight months involving domestic violence. He was also arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence and burglary of a dwelling last November.
Following his arrest in November, Cox was suspended indefinitely and did not play the final three games the season.
Cox graduated from West Point High School in 2011 following two consecutive State Championships with the Green Wave in 2009 and 2010. He enrolled at EMCC for two seasons and was a member of the 2011 National Championship team from Scooba.
Following EMCC, Cox signed with Mississippi State and played two seasons with the Bulldogs.
He impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February with a 4.36 40-yard dash but went un-drafted. He went on to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.
