Iuka Man Charged With Shooting Into Home

TISHOMINGO CO., Miss. (WCBI) – An Iuka man is in a jail cell after shooting into a home Monday night.

Now, 53-year-old Brian Scott Berryman is facing multiple felony charges in connection with the incident.

The Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department got a call February 6th that someone had shot into a residence on County Road 344 near the Goat Island area.

When deputies arrived, the victim told them that a man who lived just down the road had come to their home and began shooting into it.

Officers went to a home and met Berryman and arrested him. Berryman admitted that he had gone to his neighbor’s

house and fired a weapon into it. Deputies were able to recover a .22 rifle and a .380 pistol, along with some narcotics. He was taken to the Tishomingo County Jail.

Police later learned that Berryman was wanted for a parole violation.

In April of 1989, Berryman was convicted of homicide and armed robbery and ordered to serve life in prison. He was granted parole February 5, 2009.

In March of 2013, a warrant was issued for Berryman’s arrest by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for absconding supervision, a violation of his parole.

Berryman is charged with shooting into a dwelling, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of a controlled substance – oxycodone, and felony possession of a controlled substance – hydrocodone.

He also has a hold placed on him by MDOC for abscondment.

Berryman remains in the custody of Tishomingo County waiting for bond to be set, and will remain there until MDOC remands him into their custody.
