VIDEO: Investigation Underway After Fatal House Fire

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- A fire investigation is underway in West Point after a man’s body was found inside the home.

Crews were called to a home in 100 Block Washington Street in West Point just after 4 p.m. Thursday evening.

Clay County Coroner, Alvin Carter Jr. says fire crews found the body of a 62 year old man in one of the bedrooms.

Right now it’s unclear how the fire started.

Carter says the body is being sent to Jackson for an autopsy.

West Point Police, the Clay County Coroners Office and State Fire Marshal are handling the investigation.
