Injured Officer Showing Improvement

(TUPELO,Ms)(WCBI) — Some promising news tonight for injured Tupelo Police Officer Joseph Maher.

Deputy Tupelo Police Chief Alan Gilbert  says Officer Maher’s condition has now been upgraded to serious but stable. He had been listed in critical condition since he was wounded in the Monday gunfight which killed fellow officer Sergeant Gale Stauffer.  Chief Bart Aguirre says Maher’s recovery will be a long one and he is facing multiple surgeries including some reconstruction surgery to recover from his wounds.  While he recovers, you can donate money for his family at any BancorpSouth branch.
