Injured Officer Moves To Private Room

(TUPELO,MS) (WCBI) -A bit of happiness among the sadness of Sergeant Stauffers funeral as his fellow officer shows more signs of improvement.

Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre says injured officer Joseph Maher is showing more signs of improvement. Aguirre says he is now in a private room at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Maher has been showing steady improvement over the past 48 hours even to the point of walking with some assistance. Maher still faces a long recovery period and multiple surgeries to reapir the gunshot wound to the face.
