Infant Critically Injured in Prentiss Crash

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a morning crash in Prentiss County that has left an infant in critical condition.

Troopers responded to MS 4 near New Site at approximately 9am. Upon arriving it appeared Matthew K Mathis, 25, of Booneville was traveling west on MS 4 when he apparently lost control of his 2000 Lincoln, ran off the road and collided into a tree.

An infant in the vehicle and Mathis were both transported to NMMC. The infant was later transferred to LeBonheur with serious injuries.

The condition now is unknown as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The child was properly restrained.
