Industry Gets New Home in Water Valley
WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) — A new industry moves into its new home in Water Valley.
Allied Industries celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting at its new 16,000-square-foot building in the city’s industrial park near Borg Warner. The company is leasing the building from the city for 10 years.
Allied has been operating for the last 18 months from a county-owned building in Coffeeville.
It makes industrial filters for everything from butane powered vehicles to Black Hawk helicopters and jet aircraft.
The company moved from New Jersey and employs about 35 people.
Meanwhile, continued growth in Yalobusha County is paying off in more ways than one.
The assessed value of all property in the county topped $75 million this year. That makes county supervisors, the tax assessor justice court judges and the board and prosecuting attorneys eligible for a pay raise under state law.
County supervisors reluctantly approved themselves the thousand dollar pay hike, noting it’s the first raise they’ve gotten in 10 years.
The pay raises for the other positions take effect automatically January 1st.
