TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – More than 3,000 eighth graders are getting an opportunity to find out what careers may interest them.
The CREATE Foundation is organizing the “Imagine the Possibilities” Career Expo Tuesday and Wednesday at the Bancorpsouth Conference Center.
Eighth graders are able to choose a variety of career tracks, represented by companies such as Toyota, Cooper Tire, Universal Asset Management, and even law enforcement and first responders.
“The eighth grade is really kind of a pivotal year in terms of what courses they will take as they move forward into high school and we really want to make the connection with the students in terms of all the career opportunities available to them and help them understand what kind of education and training they need to pursue those careers,” said Mike Clayborne, of the CREATE Foundation.
More than 500 volunteers have signed up to help navigate the students and teachers through the career expo. Organizers say the career expo will be an annual event.
