ICC Cheer Camp Continuing to Grow
FULTON, Miss. (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) — Over 100 campers participated in this year’s Itawamba Community Cheer Camp as they learned various cheers, chants and dances taught by accredited National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA) instructors.
“We had a wonderful camp this year,” said ICC Cheer sponsor Dr. Bronson Prochaska. “We had high school and junior high cheerleaders as well as dance squads from all throughout the area [to participate in] this year’s camp.”
Prochaska plans to move the camp to earlier in the summer to better fit the various schedules of the cheerleader programs while continuing to partner with the NCA and NDA to provide creative and fun cheers, chants and stunts along with sideline, pep rally and dance routines through daily one-on-one time with trained instructors focused on building confidence, positive attitudes and team work that helps transform individual cheerleaders into a team.
“Next year is definitely going to be bigger and better,” Prochaska commented. “We are reaching out to all the junior high and high schools in North Mississippi and parts of Alabama in hopes to make the camp available for everyone to know that we have a great camp.”
ICC also conducted a cheer camp with William Carey University and Northeast Mississippi Community College in an effort to create an additional camp geared towards community and junior colleges along with smaller universities.
“We hope this will help provide another option for cheerleaders on our level to have the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming sports seasons,” Prochaska said. “Some of the camps hosted by the major universities are so crowded it makes it difficult to achieve the goals you are looking to get out of those camps. We feel like a camp geared for smaller groups would better enhance the experience and effectiveness of the purpose these type of cheer camps serve.”
