Holiday Debate Heats Up In Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County supervisors are set to talk about doing away with Confederate Memorial Day as a paid county holiday.

The board is set to vote Monday, March 5, on substituting Good Friday for the April holiday.

Other Mississippi and Alabama Counties have recently taken the same move, citing the fact Good Friday is normally a slower business day anyway.

State employees still recognize Confederate Memorial day.
