Hobo King visits Amory Railroad Festival

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – One of the most popular attractions at the Amory Railroad Festival, besides Apple Fritters, is the “Hobo Camp”

This year’s “Hobo King”, known as “The Dutchman”, has written a children’s book about “Hobo Life.”

The Dutchman was at the Amory Municipal Library talking about his book, and the hobo lifestyle he has embraced for 50 years.

In fact, The Dutchman said he is one of the last remaining regular train riders.

“Hobo and trains, aren’t really, it sounds synonymous, but it is really a coincidence, in that it was the mode of transportation because it was available and free,” said The Dutchmen.

The Dutchman works odd jobs as he travels across the country.

The Dutchman and well known former “Hobo Queen” “Gypsy Moon” will be signing books Thursday evening at the Amory Regional Museum, as the Railroad Festival gets underway.
