Hitting the road: Keeping your car in shape before traveling
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – According to AAA, 115 million Americans will be traveling this holiday season with 90% of those travelers going by car.
With so many people on the road, it is important to make sure your vehicle is in good shape.
Manager at Miller’s OK Tires Ken Jones said to check out your car before traveling.
“Your basics are what you want to take care of just to make sure you are safe. The air pressure and the fluid level check are the most important ones at this time and the tread life on your tires,” said Jones.
Jones said Miller’s tends to see an increase in car checkups during the holiday season.
“We do a lot of oil changes this time of year for people traveling to see their families and things like that. We run into that a lot this time. And overall maintenance, just checking their tires, rotating them if they need it, checking their air before they go. Things like that,” said Jones.
Parker Rodabough is traveling to Tennessee this Christmas. He said he got his vehicle checked out before his trip.
“I actually just got my oil changed, brakes checked, tires rotated, fuel filter replaced, and that is about it. For the holidays, I wanted to be prepared for the long trip,” said Rodabough.
Be sure to check on your vehicle basics before you travel.
