Heavy rainfall delays patching potholes in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Recently, we’ve enjoyed sunny weekends and rainy weeks.
It’s great to plan a grill out but bad if you’re patching potholes.
Columbus Public Works crews are assigned to make repairs to city streets every workday.
Cold mix is being used in place for a short-term fix until the city’s new hot mix machine can get to the pothole.
The hot mix is a more permanent repair.
However, heavy rainfall is hampering how the pothole patrols.
“It’s a hindrance on getting the job done and also with the weather, it affects the road. It makes our job a whole lot harder, because it makes the conditions worse and I mean you, we, try to do it all but Rome wasn’t built in a day,” said Derreck Cross, with Columbus Public Works.
The new hot mix machine was put in service back in January.
