COLUMBUS, Miss. – (BMHGT REPORT)Are you dreading the holiday season because you fear weight gain? Try not to focus on weight loss between Thanksgiving and New Years. Instead, think about maintaining your weight. The holiday season is the most difficult time to diet.
You can keep your calorie intake under control in many ways. Try these tips and see which ones work best for you.
Survey the entire table and decide which foods are worth eating and which you can ignore.
Eat a snack before you leave home.
Eat your calories instead of drinking them. Stick to low calorie or calorie free beverages such as diet soda or water,
When hosting, make sure to include lower calorie foods such as fruits, vegetables, and lean meats.
Drop out of the “clean plate club”. Do not feel the need to eat everything on your plate. Learn to stop when you feel full.
Enjoy your favorite holiday treats in small portions.
Talk more; eat less. Make the holiday season about enjoying company, rather than all about the food.
Use smaller plates.
Do not skip meals. Skipping meals may actually cause you to overeat.
Remember to continue exercising. You can increase the intensity and/or duration to help with the additional calorie intake.
