STAKRVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — It was a fun and interactive day for kids at the third annual “Head to Toe Health and Wellness Fair.”
The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville hosted the health fair, which is geared towards kids, in effort to educate families on how to live healthy lifestyles.
Vendors from the local community were on hand helping participants learn about things such as; exercise, drug prevention and how to prepare healthy meals.
Kids even had the chance to sample healthy snacks.
Event organizers say it’s all about influencing kids to start living healthy at a young age.
“But if we can start with the children, often we can reach the parents by starting with the children and so if we can start with them and teach them to eat the colors of the rainbow and to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, limit their screen time, then hopefully we can break the cycle of the obesity problem in Mississippi,” said Mary Kathryn Kight, with the Junior Auxiliary of Starkville.
During the health fair, organizers gave away more than $1,000 in prizes.
