Head-on Collision Highway 78

PEPPERTOWN, Miss. -Troopers are still investigating a head-on collision on US 78 that left a Pontotoc man with life threatening injuries.Troopers responded to the crash early Thursday (9-19) afternoon on US 78, near Peppertown, in the east bound lanes.

Upon arriving, it appeared Ian C. Mobley, 18, of Pontotoc, was traveling west in a 2003 Ford Taurus, when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median an collided head on into a 1993 Oldsmobile, driven by Ashley M. Buse, 29, of Booneville.

Buse was transported to NMMC with minor injuries.

Mobley was air-lifted to NMMC with life threatening injuries.

It is unclear how Mobley’s vehicle was able to cross the median barrier (the safety cable).
