Video: Hawkeye in Eupora Announces Layoffs
[bitsontherun FKafh6Po]EUPORA, Miss. – (WCBI) A troubled Eupora glove plant is laying off workers and facing shutdown without more business soon.
Ansell Hawkeye is eliminating 85 positions because the manufacturer can’t obtain more contracts. The company is a primary contractor of gloves for the military, but is working on its last government contract and seeking non-government contracts to keep its doors open. Layoffs are expected to begin on May 9th and continue until the 31st.
The company has been in Eupora since 2003, but moved corporate and production functions there from Iowa after closing down the factory after 42 years.
