Harper Set To Retire
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCBI) – Third Congressional District Congressman Gregg Harper says he will not seek another term in office.
The fifth term Republican made the announcement today, January 4.
Harper said, in part: “Serving as a Member of the United States House of Representatives has been the highest privilege and honor of my life.”
The Pearl resident says his family has been thinking about this decision for almost two years.
In the statement, Harper talked about the committees he has served on and chaired during his ten years on Capitol Hill.
He also thanked his family and voters for allowing him to serve.
The deadline to qualify for Harper’s seat is March 1.
