HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Hamilton parents want to say thank you to a Jackson Pediatric Center by donating proceeds from a fundraiser. The 2nd Annual “Swinging Bats for Emerson” was held in Hamilton Saturday to help raise funds for the pediatric Pilot Care Center at Batson Hospital in Jackson.
Teams from all over including Houston, Pontotoc and Caledonia came out to be a part of the event. T-shirts along with lunch plates were on sale. Whitney and Jeremiah Blackston wanted to provide funds for other families and children who benefit from the care center.
“Have children that live at the hospital they take care of them. They actually take those kids on field trips and money that we raise helps go towards doing stuff like that,” says Jeremiah Blackston.
“The community has come together and done five to six fundraiser and we were so blessed with those and the outcome of that we decided that proceeds for this fundraiser would go to Pediatric Pilot Care at Batons,” says Whitney Blackston.
The Blackston’s daughter Emerson spent a year at the center after being born with Fraser Disease which left her blind and partially deaf.
