Gubernatorial candidate Jim Hood casts vote hometown
CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Jim Hood was at home Tuesday morning in Chickasaw County to cast his vote for governor.
The attorney general and his wife Debbie hoped their votes at the Thorn Community Center will help carry him to victory Tuesday evening.
Hood, a Democrat, is a native of Chickasaw County and the Houston area. He voted at the Pleasant Grove precinct on County Road 37.
Hood spent the final days of the campaign asking for votes in the Delta and north Mississippi.
Hood focused his campaign on education, including teacher pay, expanding health care in rural areas and training Mississippians to find better jobs.
“You know, I’ve just run my race and that’s what my father told me years ago when I ran for D.A., 24 years-ago. Run your own race and that’s what I’ve done and run on the issues and tried to make sure people know what the differences were in this race, and I think we have successfully done that,” said Hood.
Along with Reeves, Hood also faces Independent candidate David Singletary and Bob Hickingbottom from the Constitution Party.
