Groundbreaking for Starkville’s 64th Habitat For Humanity Home
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville Area Habitat for Humanity celebrates the groundbreaking for their next home.
The newest house will be located at 311 D.L. Conner Drive in Starkville.
The three bedroom, two bath home is similar to the Habitat homes built on Owens Street.
Starkville Habitat usually builds two houses each year and this spring home is called Apostles’ House.
Out of state students will be coming to Starkville during their spring break to help volunteer working on the house.
The recipient says the groundbreaking means a lot to her.
“It is very hard. I had to write essays and needed a lot of support. I almost gave up a lot of times when I felt like I wasn’t going to get it, but I had a lot of support who encouraged me to continue trying,” says Habitat for Humanity recipient, Louquan Lucious.
Construction is expected to last three months and should wrap up around the end of May or early June.
This is the 64th Habitat for Humanity home built in Starkville.
Other Habitat for Humanity homeowners and recipients came out to the groundbreaking to provide refreshments.
