CINCINNATI — Federal authorities say a grand jury has indicted the 20-year-old Ohio man accused of plotting an attack at the U.S. Capitol.

Justice Department officials and the FBI say the federal grand jury in Cincinnati has charged Christopher Lee Cornell with attempting to kill U.S. officials and employees, solicitation to commit violence and a firearms charge.

Cornell was arrested outside a gun shop west of Cincinnati Jan. 14. The FBI said in court documents filed last week that Cornell planned to “wage jihad” by attacking the Capitol with pipe bombs and shooting government officials and employees.

A U.S. magistrate last week ordered him jailed without bond. He is due back in court Thursday for his arraignment.

A message was left Wednesday for his attorney.

Cornell’s father, John Cornell, has said his son was coerced.
