Governor Phil Bryant tours the devastation

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Governor Phil Bryant toured the city of Columbus Wednesday to see the devastation.

He visited some of the hardest hit areas hit areas from Saturday’s tornado.

Later he spoke with City officials about what happens next.

He says he is doing everything can to get federal disaster relief aid headed our way.

He wants to focus on getting people back on their feet and back into everyday life.

“How can we get someone that’s in this community that may have children in school back into temporary housing and get those children back in school as quick as we can? Superintendent’s done a really remarkable job here trying to get that population in and continuing their educational opportunities here in Columbus and the surrounding areas,” said Governor Bryant.

Governor Bryant says it is important for him to get out and see the damage in person so he can figure out what is needed.
