Governor lifting partial statewide burn ban
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Governor Tate Reeves is lifting a partial statewide burn ban effective Thursday November 16th.
After recent rainfall and in light of the current weather forecast, the Mississippi Forestry Commission requested that the ban be lifted.
The Governor complied.
That ban covered nearly half of Mississippi counties, mostly in the Central and Southern parts of the state.
County burn bans remain in effect in 27 counties: Attala, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Clay, Grenada, Humphreys, Itawamba, Kemper, Lafayette, Lee, Lowndes, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tishomingo, Union, Webster, Winston, and Yalobusha.
