Golf Tournament Helps Fund Vietnam Memorial Replica Wall
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Military veterans spent part of the 9 11 anniversary taking part in a golf tournament, with proceeds helping fund a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Tupelo.
The fifth annual Veteran’s Memorial Golf Tournament drew thirteen teams to Big Oaks Golf Course.
This year all money raised from the tournament will help pay for the Vietnam Memorial Replica Wall that will be dedicated this November.
The wall is sixty percent the size of the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC and will be another attraction at Veteran’s Park.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Rex Moody says it’s important to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s freedoms.
“Like most veterans we believe and we say, this quite often, freedom is never free, something you have to work at, something you have to commit to, because this is our way of life and we’re not going to give up without a fight,” said Lt. Col. (Retired) Rex Moody.
The Marine Corps League of Tupelo sponsors the annual veteran’s golf tournament.
