Fundraiser for Lowndes County sergeant currently underway
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department family is rallying around one of its own.
Sgt. Tammy Prescott was recently diagnosed with cancer. Now, her brothers and sisters in blue are turning on their ovens and hosting a bake sale.
There’s also a silent auction going happening at the sheriff’s office, Friday.
The money raised will help Prescott with upcoming medical bills.
She’s a long time volunteer at Camp Rising Sun and at various other organizations in Lowndes County.
Friday, those Prescott has served are giving back to her.
“I am so blessed. God has blessed me a with a great extended family here at work and in the community. I love the community and the people I have met over the years, and I just thank each and every one of them for giving to me at a time that I need,” said Sgt. Prescott.
“I think most people in this community know all the different things she has been involved in, and I can’t say enough about what she means to me and what she means to this department,” said Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge.
Prescott has been in law enforcement for 23 years.
The fundraiser continues until six this evening.
