COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Alzheimer’s disease is a form of dementia that has no cure, but on Sunday a fundraiser was held to further research and help find a cure.
The event was held at the GT Lanes Bowling Alley in Columbus.
All proceeds raised will benefit Alzheimer’s Association.
For a $15 donation, participants received 3 games, including the shoe rental. They also sold one dollar raffle tickets for a laptop computer.
Joy Barnes came out to support the event because her mother-in-law suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
“Now since the disease has come really slow to her but then it’s a fast process. Now she doesn’t get to bake as much as she used to. It’s a hard process to go through but with God’s help we’ve made it through everything,” says Barnes.
