JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — The bill that would have built a new Mississippi Highway Patrol substation in Starkville is dead in the legislature.

House Bill 376 called for bonds to be used to build the Troop G building in Oktibbeha County.

The board of supervisors donated land for the facility.

The Troop G building is the oldest in the Department of Public Safety.

DPS says the building leaks when there is a heavy rain.

Although the bill died in committee, there’s still a chance lawmakers could squeeze the money in another piece of legislation.
