Fulton Author Promotes Book

FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A children’s book author with Fulton roots returned there this week to visit students and promote her book.
Murlie Hanson read from her book “The Christmas Tooth Fairy” to children at Bob Steele’s Flower Shop in downtown Fulton.
Earlier this week she appeared at various schools around Itawamba County.
She says she got inspired to write the book 25 years ago, when her daughter lost a tooth.
“Then used a candy cane and she was wiggling it around in her mouth and I asked her what she was doing. And she said she was trying to get the tooth out by Christmas Eve because she wanted Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy to bump into each other, to meet. And we thought it was a cute idea so we sat down and wrote a story,” Hanson said.
A lawyer by trade, Hanson spends November and December conducting assemblies at elementary schools where she reads her book to children and gives them a few lessons about life.
She was invited to return to visit Fulton by her cousin, who is an Itawamba County teacher.
Hanson lived in Fulton herself, when she was in the seventh grade.
