Former Winona Police officer arrested on Federal charges

CAROLLTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Winona Police Officer has been indicted on Federal firearms charges.

Carroll County deputies and U.S. Marshals arrested Tanareika Williams at her home near Blackhawk November 6th.

Williams is facing federal charges of Aiding and Abetting a Fugitive and Disposal of a Firearm.

The charges stem from an incident in August of 2022 in which Williams claimed to be the victim of a hostage situation and attempted murder.

The results of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office led to Williams’ indictment by a Federal grand jury.

She was released on a $10,000.00 bond.
