Video: Former Senator Honored in Dedication Ceremony

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI)-A former senator was honored by the Mississippi Department of Transportation Wednesday (11-7). Carl J. “Jack” Gordon, Junior was honored with a highway memorial. The dedication ceremony was at 11 Wednesday (11-7) morning at the City Auditorium in Okolona. “I just feel so honored that the government want to name a highway for Jack, because that was the highway he traveled all the time and went through his farm and it just such a honor,” said Martha Gordon, Jack Gordon’s wife. Jack served eight years in the Mississippi House and was elected to the Mississippi Senate in 1980 and appointed chair of the Education Committee. He was known for his work on the Education Reform Act of 1982 and his work on the Highway Committee which changed Mississippi highways forever.
