Former Secretary of Education to take the Helm at Jackson State
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) -A Jackson State Alumnus will serve as interim President of the University, and he knows a little something about Education Administration.
Dr. Rod Paige will be taking the reins while the Board of Trustees for the Institutions of Higher Learning search for a permanent replacement for Carolyn Meyers, who abruptly resigned last week.
Dr. Paige has over 4 decades of education leadership experience, including a stint at Jackson State as the Tigers’ Head Football Coach, but he is probably best known as the Secretary of Education under President George W. Bush.
Paige led the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act during his tenure.
He takes over his new job November 7th.
