Former Police Chief Settles Lawsuit Against West Point
West Point, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point and former police chief Steve Bingham have settled his discrimination lawsuit against the city.
Bingham was fired as police chief in August 2009 after less than three years on the job. He sued the city claiming four new black selectmen terminated him because he was white. The city said Bingham’s job performance led to his firing.
Federal court records show the case was dismissed Monday because it has been settled. It was scheduled for trial next week. Citing court orders, city officials would not disclose the amount of the settlement.
Bingham was fired last August as chief in Booneville.
