VIDEO: Former Ole Miss Signee Stays Closer to Home
BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Former Kossuth baseball star and Ole Miss signee Jacob Wilcher has decided to stay closer to home, signing with Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday.
Wilcher was a part of the Aggie squads that won the Class 3-A state titles in three of the past four years.
“It feels great, it’s close to home, been visiting a lot of schools, finally feels good to sign it and get it off my chest…”, said Wilcher on his decision.
“He’s been a hot name ever since he was a freshman in high school”, said NEMCC head coach Richy Harrelson, “…we always maintained a good relationship with him and would always cheer him on, so we’re excited he’s here.”
Wilcher was named a prep All-American and was also the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 3-A Player of the Year.
The five-year starter at Kossuth and compiled an .448 career batting average.
Wilcher also added numbers of 215 hits, 201 runs, 141 RBIs, 81 stolen bases, 51 doubles, 27 home runs, eight triples and a .550 on-base percentage.
