Former Macon Officer Sentenced

Darold Keith Mitchell

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Macon police officer was sentenced on Wednesday in Noxubee County Circuit Court.

A Mississippi Attorney General’s office spokesperson says Darold Mitchell was sentenced to five years suspended probation.

He must also pay more than $1,100 in restitution for the three guns recovered from area pawnshops, along with a $1,200 fine.

In the original indictment, Mitchell was accused of taking guns that were seized by Macon police for evidence.

In the plea agreement, Mitchell gave up his law enforcement certificate and agreed to never pursue a job in law enforcement again.

The AG’s Public Integrity Division investigated the case.
