Former Lowndes County auxillary deputy charged with embezzlement
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County auxiliary deputy has been fired and found himself in jail.
Jeffery Allen Banks was charged with embezzlement.
Investigators said a Columbus business owner reported that Banks received about $6,500 in payments from a customer but the money was never deposited into the business account.
The owner signed an affidavit and a justice court judge signed the arrest warrant Thursday.
Banks turned himself in to detectives.
The business is not being identified.
Banks was fired Wednesday from his part-time auxiliary deputy position.
He had been with the department since April 2017.
