Flu closes several school districts in Mississippi

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A number of other schools in the region were closed Friday due to sickness.

Tupelo Christian Preparatory School cancelled classes Friday.

The campus was empty, as students stayed home.

Educators are hoping the time away kids a chance to get over the flu and keep they from getting others sick.

South Tippah and North Tippah School Districts, along with Kemper County were also closed Friday because of a high number of sick students.

The Pediatric Emergency Department at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson has diagnosed more than 120 children daily over the past week.
