Five people escape SUV after going over I-10 bridge railing

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WLOX) – Five passengers safely escaped their SUV after the vehicle went over the I-10 overpass ending up at Vidalia Road in Pass Christian late Saturday night.

According to Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan, the group was traveling westbound on their way back to their home in Louisiana when the SUV left the road, went over the overpass bridge railing and rolled about 30 feet below. The vehicle flipped several times before landing on its side on Vidalia Rd.

Only two people were transported to a local hospital by AMR with non-life-threatening injuries. The other three were just shaken up.

First responders were slowed in their response due to thick fog in the area, according to Chief Sullivan. At the time of the accident, visibility was reduced to yards.

Mississippi Highway Patrol investigated the accident, and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic. West Harrison Fire, Harrison County Fire Service and AMR responded to the accident.
