Five Bulldogs Named Finalists for Gillom and Howell Trophies

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Five of the six finalists for the annual Gillom and Howell Trophies are true maroon.

Announced on Monday, Mississippi State players make up five of the six finalist spots for the awards which are given out annually to the best college basketball players in the Magnolia State.

The finalists for the Gillom Trophy, which is awarded to the best women’s college basketball player in Mississippi, are Mississippi State teammates Victoria Vivians, Teaira McCowan and Blair Schaefer.

The finalists for the Howell Trophy, given out to the best men’s college basketball player in Mississippi, are Mississippi State teammates Nick and Quinndary Weatherspoon along with Southern Miss guard Cortez Edwards.

The Trophy winners will be awarded on Monday, March 5th at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
