Fireworks possible cause of Macon house fire
MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – A house in Macon goes up in flames early Wednesday morning and fireworks could be to blame.
Firefighters were called to the 400 block of Washington Street, just after midnight.
Flames consumed the house, as firemen arrived.
Investigators said the building was abandoned and there was no electric service.
They believed someone got inside of the house or threw fireworks inside to start the fire.
“Try to keep your abandoned house closed up and locked up to keep children from playing in there. We have a number of abandoned houses that have caught on fire,” said Macon Fire Department Chief David Estes.
The fire remains under investigation.
