Video: Fire Destroys Three Columbus Apartments

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – Six people are homeless after an afternoon fire destroys three east Columbus apartments.

The blaze started about three Wednesday afternoon at Columbus Colony apartments, just off Lehmberg Road.

Units nine – ten, and eleven received heavy smoke and water damaged.

There is also a hole in the roof of the apartments after firefighters tried to ventilate the building.

No one was at home at the time of the fire.

A Columbus Fire and Rescue spokesman says investigators are still trying determine where and how the fire started.

One person lives in unit 9.

Five people lived in unit 10.
