Federal Judge Says Alabama Prisons Not Providing Adequate Psychiatric Care
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) – A federal judge says Alabama is not providing constitutionally adequate psychiatric care for state prisoners.
In his decision, U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson calls the prison system “horrendously inadequate.”
A federal lawsuit was filed over the treatment of inmates with mental problems.
The state has denied that inmates receive inadequate mental health treatment, and it had no immediate comment on the ruling.
